About Me

From Tucson to Mount Shasta

I grew up in Tucson AZ before heading to college in New York where I received my BFA from New York University and lived in NYC for 15 years. I then came to San Francisco with the intention of only staying for one year but met my now husband, Joe Markert, and the rest is history!
He is the founder of a technology consulting firm, and I ran a successful bookkeeping practice. We have both started our own businesses and seen them through the high times, and challenging lows of the pandemic.

In 2016 we welcomed our first daughter Eleanor into the world and made the decision to buy a plot of land in here in Mt. Shasta. Joe’s family has lived here for going on fifty years and he spent summers up here as a kid with his grandparents. This place has always held a bit of magic for my husband and when we started our family, it was an easy decision for us to make the commitment to move and raise our family here in this wonderful mountain community!

I have personally served on the MSE Site Council to oversee Title 1 funding for our school while Joe’s company is creating educational and job opportunities here in our County. We are also starting a co-working space to provide the community, and those who visit, a place to work remotely as well as connect with and create community.

We both love and believe in this community and have enjoyed becoming more involved. We have been investing in the Education Foundation since before moving to Mount Shasta because we firmly believe every child deserves a quality education and social experience regardless of their background, beliefs, or social status.
